The Surface Duo 2 Is Real And It’ll Cost $1,500 Next Month

The first Surface Duo was popular among those who had one, but they also told everyone not to buy one for various reasons. The Surface Duo 2 is hoping to change that when it goes on sale on October 21 for $1,499.

The updated product hopes to deal with some of the problems that befell the original model.

There’s now a new black option, with two 5.8-inch, 1344 x 1892 OLED displays connected by a hinge. Combined, the two displays are 8.3-inches in size, so the same as a new iPad mini. Both feature a 90Hz refresh rate, too.

Internally, a Snapdragon 888 processor by Qualcomm is paired with 5G connectivity — a first for the Duo line. 8GB of RAm is offered while storage comes in 128GB and 512GB configurations. The Surface Slim Pen 2 is supported and it’ll magnetically attach to the Surface Duo 2 for charging purposes.

In terms of cameras, the new device has a standard wide, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras. All are 12-megapixel shooters while the wide and telephoto lenses benefit from optical image stabilization.

The new device goes on sale on October 21 as we mentioned earlier, with a price of $1,499 that seems pretty reasonable. Microsoft says that the Duo 2 will run Android 11 at launch, something the Duo still hasn’t managed. Microsoft isn’t saying whether that will ever change, either.
