Apple Planned On Using Apple Watch Pro Branding But Never Used It

It appears that at least one point in time had Apple planning to use the Apple Watch Pro branding for at least some of its wearables. Apple has so far refused to use that name, however, with all Apple Watches now branded the same.

The discovery came in a file within an Apple Watch retail demonstration unit that was shared by Apple Demo on Twitter. The file was dated February 26, 2015, and is found within a folder full of Apple Watch logos.

It seems likely that Apple would have reserved the Pro moniker for a higher-end model, potentially the wearable made from stainless steel rather than the aluminum most people choose. Apple also offered an Apple Watch Edition that was later canned.

Upon looking into some of the demo content files on a 2015 Apple Watch Demo (A1623), I discovered an image of logo for an unknown model of Apple Watch. Not sure if “Apple Watch Pro” is an unreleased model, or is just some place holder text.

Apple tends to use the Pro name for its high-end hardware with iPhone 13 Pro, MacBook Pro, and iPad Pro currently being used. The naming is also used in accessories such as AirPods Pro, too.

It’s still possible Apple will use the name in its wearables of course, although it’s likely that would have happened in the six years since that file was created if it was likely to happen at all.
