Apple Corporate Employees In The US Receive April 11 Deadline For Returning To Office

According to the latest reports, Apple Inc. has set a deadline of April 11, 2022, for its corporate employees to return to office-based work. This latest information comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and includes Apple Park as a corporate environment.

While some companies around the world are fully embracing the remote working culture, Cupertino-based Apple Inc. is one of the corporate giants that want to try and get people back to a more traditional way of working.

A company-wide memo issued by CEO Tim Cook has stated that office-based employees must be working at least one day a week in that office by April 11. The memo also sets out staged guidelines for increasing office attendance.

Cook has set out phased return-to-the-office expectations. Office-based employees who are currently working remotely will need to work at least one day in the office per week by April 11. Those employees will be expected to increase that cadence to at least two days a week three weeks after that initial date. And will be expected to be office-based for at least three days a week by May 23, 2022. Those days are set on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Tim Cook’s memo outlines the belief that in-person working allows staff to “engage more fully” and highlights a milestone as the world returns to a sense of normality post-COVID:

For many of you, I know that returning to the office represents a long-awaited milestone and a positive sign that we can engage more fully with the colleagues who play such an important role in our lives.

Whilst attempting to highlight the positives, Cook does also acknowledge that for some people, the return to in-person work may be an unsettling change.”

Apple has made numerous attempts in the past to get employees back to the office but has thus far had to abandon those plans due to rising Covid cases. Some employees will be chomping at the bit to get back to the office whilst others will be seriously apprehensive about the change. Cook, however, acknowledges that “it is as important as ever that we support each other through this transition, through the challenges we face as a team and around the world.”
