Apple has today seeded the release candidate versions of iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 to developers, giving them their last chance to report any bugs before the updates are made available to the public.
We now know that Apple will make both iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 available to the world next week alongside the new iPhone SE, iPad Air, and new iPhone 13 colors.
That means that there are just days to go before everyone gets their hands on the new features that developers and public beta testers have been testing.
Those new updates include support for using Face ID while wearing a mask, a feature that extends to using Apple Pay. That’s a huge deal when paying for items in stores, for example.
The iPadOS 15.4 update also enables Universal Control, allowing Mac users to control their iPad using the same mouse and keyboard without the need for wires and with minimal setup required.
Other improvements include 37 new emojis, while support for Tap to Pay on iPhone is also in the works and was added in a previous beta. It will require support from third-party payment providers like Stripe before it is fully functional, however.
Developers who have the correct beta profile installed can now download the new release candidate of iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 onto their devices for testing.
