Check Out These Cool Brick-Building Kits, Including A Mini Arcade Cabinet

Lego is definitely the first name that pops into your head when it comes to connectible building blocks, but there are a few other burgeoning companies trying to compete with the Danish toy juggernaut. One of these is Brickkk, a company that mixes traditional plastic pieces with more mechanical parts to create unique playsets.

Like Lego, Brickkk combines its building blocks with fan-favorite intellectual properties, and right now, several of these kits are on sale. For anime fans, you can pick up kits for Astro Boy and Saint Seiya AKA Knights of the Zodiac. The Astro Boy kit a mechanically accurate model of one of the biggest icons of the anime industry, while a second kit shrinks the beloved character down and places him inside of a neat laboratory environment alongside his adoptive dad.

For the Saint Seiya fans, there's a great kit that captures the hero in an action pose, swapping out his usual Pegasus outfit for the dazzling golden shine of the Sagittarius Cloth. If you'd prefer something more classical, you can grab a kit that allows you to build an old-school computer, complete with a CRT monitor, and retro animation fans can even construct Popeye the Sailor Man , complete with the love of his life Olive Oil.

If you want to display a brick-built arcade cabinet, Brickkk has a miniature Metal Slug cab that looks pretty darn cool.

These sets aren't complicated to build, have terrific colors, and most of them come with unique display bases so that you can proudly show them off. They make great gifts as well, as fans of the relevant properties will get a kick from a cathartic afternoon of building these characters and items, and will then have something to show off once they're done.

These are all on sale right now, and for extra savings, you can grab a further 5% discount by clicking the coupon box on each page. We've gathered up some of the standout kits below, which you can read more about.

Retro Computer Building Set - $120 (was $140)

Long before computers became works of art in which we wanted to see a collection of RGB lights pulsating over our expensive graphics card purchases, there was the humble desktop PC. Unassuming and underpowered, Brickkk's replica captures all the small details of these machines from a bygone era. There's a CRT monitor, retro keyboard, and even a floppy disc drive--which sadly doesn't work--on this replica. With its compact size, it's an adorable PC that you can keep next to your real workhorse machine.

Retro Arcade Metal Slug Machine Building Set - $80 (was $110)

You won't have to look too far to see one of the best games of the arcade era, Metal Slug, if you add this playset to your collection. Saint Seiya Building Kit - $90 (was $130)

Dressed in the golden armor of the Sagittarius constellation, Seiya shines in this particular playset. While the action pose that you'll build is pretty dynamic, it can be adjusted for other poses if you desire. You'll also be able to pose this figure on a detailed base, and for an extra touch, it even comes with a tiny certificate of authenticity from Saint Seiya creator Masami Kurumada.

Popeye and Olive Buildable Characters Kit - $90 (was $110)

SpongeBob SquarePants might rule the ocean these days, but before that yellow sponge was all the talk, it was Popeye who was the true king of the seas. Able to deal with any nautical nonsense in his way, this spinach-eating sailor lives once again thanks to a colorful figure that you can freely pose. Alongside a buildable Olive Oil, this kit also includes swap-out eye pieces to change their emotions, a cute lighthouse diorama, and yes, a can of spinach.

Pantasy Art Hokusai: The Great Wave Building Set - $60 (was $80)

For fine art lovers, you can bring the The Great Wave Off Kanagawa painting to 3D life with this recreation of the world-famous artwork that Hokusai created in 1831. A stylish gift and one that has many small artistic details in its design, The Great Wave has art-grade color reproduction, is over 5.9" high when complete, and makes for a spectacular display piece.

Retro TV Building Kit - $80 ($160)

Take a trip back in time with this building kit, which will allow you to reconstruct the old-school TV of your youth. While you won't get a signal once you're done putting it together, at least you'll have a quirky replica of a 1980s-style television set that won't break your spine when you need to move it. It even comes with a dedicated oceanic channel, although the picture does seem to be leaking a little bit.
